This session will highlight recent development efforts of the Digital Experience Center of Cincinnati Children's towards building a program to create innovative immersive virtual simulations across a wide field of clinical, educational, research and patient experience needs, aimed at providing unique applications to enhance patient outcomes. Challenges of engaging organization leadership in advancing support and resources for VR/AR/XR development throughout the organization will be discussed, and a number of virtual applications demonstrating outcomes in surgical pre-planning, integrating AR overlays on physical simulators (manikins), multi-user role-based simulations for disaster training, virtual educational outreach, and integrative bio-feedback into virtual simulation for pain management will be highlighted.
Attendees will be able to survey a variety of techniques and applications toward developing VR/AR/XR simulations in a medical setting, as well as engaging in discussions on specific challenges to building a sustainable program in an organization.
